Location: Little Pennard Lane, East Pennard, Shepton Mallet, Somerset

2 Fire appliances from Shepton Mallet were mobilised to the above location to reports of an incident.
On arrival, crews confirmed this to be a small tractor, well alight.
Crews extinguished the fire using 2 hose reel jets and  thermal imaging camera was also used.
The tractor was severely damaged by fire and the cause was accidental.
Duty of care was left with the owner.

Location: A37 Kilver Street Hill, Shepton Mallet

We received a call from Ambulance reporting a road traffic collision with persons trapped at the above location, two fire engines from Shepton Mallet and Wells attended.
Fire crews confirmed a road traffic collision involving two cars with three passengers still inside the vehicles.
One female casualty had been released prior to the arrival of the Fire Service by Ambulance crews.  Fire crews used a winch to remove one vehicle in order to gain access to the other vehicle where two persons were still inside the vehicle.
Fire crews assisted one casualty from the vehicle and then winched the vehicle in order to gain access to the nearside of the vehicle.  The second casualty in this vehicle was extricated by fire crews using hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment to remove the roof of the car.  Four dogs, two in each car, were also removed from the vehicles.  Three casualties were taken to hospital by road Ambulance.  Fire crews made the vehicles safe using small tools and left the incident in the hands of Police.

Location: Hillmead, Shepton Mallet

The Fire Service were called to a report of alarms operating within a flat at the above location.  One fire appliance from Glastonbury was mobilised to this incident.  On arrival crews stated that there was smoke issuing so further fire appliances were mobilised to assist them, they both proceeded from Shepton Mallet.
This was a fire within a top flat of a three storey building of brick and tile construction measuring approximately 10m x 20m.  One male casualty rescued by the fire service and being assessed by paramedics..  Forced entry made by the Fire Service.  Crews extinguished using four breathing apparatus, one attack jet, one safety jet, thermal imaging camera and positive pressure fan.  3% fire damage to the cooker only.  Casualty being conveyed to hospital.  The cause of the fire was accidental.

Location: Coxbridge Drove, Coxbridge, Glastonbury

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call reporting a barn fire at the above location.

On arrival the officer in charge confirmed a fire within a barn containing four hundred large bales of hay. The farmer was assisting crews with telehander removing bales from the barn to show hot spots for the crews to extinguish.

Two crews from Shepton Mallet and Castle Cary were mobilised to reports of a Tractor pulling machinery on fire on a main road.

The crews used breathing apparatus sets, thermal imaging cameras, hose reels and a 45mm jet to extinguish the blaze.

Over 7,000 Somerset residents and organisations took part in a 19-week library service redesign consultation, Somerset County Council's Scrutiny Committee heard today.

Survey respondents were asked to review a set of proposals for the library they visit most often and consider the impacts the proposals will have on them, their family and their communities. They were also asked for alternative ideas on delivering library services going forward.

One fire appliance from Shepton Mallet was mobilised to a report of a vehicle on fire at the above location.  
On arrival fire crews extinguished the fire using 1 hosereel jet and small tools.  Police were requested to attend due to the suspicious nature of the fire - pol log 103 refers.  25% fire damage was caused to the vehicle.
