Road Traffic Collision Persons Trapped at A37 Kilver Street Hill, Shepton Mallet

Date: 23.07.2018Time: 10:56Location: A37 Kilver Street Hill, Shepton MalletWe received a call from Ambulance reporting a road traffic collision with persons trapped at the above location, two fire engines from Shepton Mallet and Wells attended.Fire crews confirmed a road traffic collision involving two cars with three passengers still inside the vehicles.One female casualty had been released prior to the arrival of the Fire Service by Ambulance crews.  Fire crews used a winch to remove one vehicle in order to gain access to the other vehicle where two persons were still inside the vehicle.Fire crews assisted one casualty from the vehicle and then winched the vehicle in order to gain access to the nearside of the vehicle.  The second casualty in this vehicle was extricated by fire crews using hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment to remove the roof of the car.  Four dogs, two in each car, were also removed from the vehicles.  Three casualties were taken to hospital by road Ambulance.  Fire crews made the vehicles safe using small tools and left the incident in the hands of Police.
