Barn Fire at Coxbridge Drove, Coxbridge, Glastonbury

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call reporting a barn fire at the above location.
Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Glastonbury, one fire appliance from Street, one fire appliance from Shepton Mallet, one water bowser from Bridgwater and a duty officer to attend this incident.
On arrival the officer in charge confirmed a fire within a barn containing four hundred large bales of hay. The farmer was assisting crews with telehander removing bales from the barn to show hot spots for the crews to extinguish.
Update at 19:39 - The officer in charge confirmed steady progress being made by the farmer using the telehandler, crews were at work with two compressed air foam system jets to suppress the visible flame in the stacks. In addition one hose reel jet was set up for firefighters and farmers protection. The crews continue to monitor the rear stacks for hot spots.
Update at 19:43 - The officer in charge requested the attendance of the incident support vehicle from Yeovil to attend this incident. Fire control immediately mobilised this vehicle to attend the incident.
Update at 20:06 - Crews making steady progress and have removed approximately a quarter of the bales from the barn. Crews still at work with two breathing apparatus, two compressed air foam system jets, safety jets, triple extension ladder and a thermal imaging camera.
Update at 20:30 - Crews and farmer have removed half of the contents from the barn. Crews still at work removing and extinguishing the fire.
Update at 21:00 - The officer in charge confirmed that two thirds of the barn has now been removed. The crew are now at work removing the effected stacks. Crew still at work with two breathing apparatus, two compressed air foam system jets, safety jets, triple extension ladder and a thermal imaging camera.
Update at 21:41 - Crews have now discontinued breathing apparatus and steady progress still being maintained. Two telehandlers are still in use removing approx. sixty bales from the barn.
Update at 22:20 - Crews still making steady progress with farmers assistance and two telehandlers. Crews still at work removing effected bales and have exposed a large heat source from the centre stack.
