Authorities are seeking witnesses to a serious crash that occurred on the A37 near Pylle, just outside Shepton Mallet, causing extensive delays and the road's closure yesterday (November 7.)

The collision, which involved a car and a lorry, was reported to the emergency services at approximately 8:45 am. Police, along with fire and rescue teams, were promptly at the scene where they worked to free the car's driver from the vehicle. The driver was subsequently airlifted to hospital; thankfully, the injuries have been reported as serious but not life-threatening or life-changing.

Avon and Somerset Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the accident or who has any information that could aid their investigation to come forward.

As a result of the collision, the A37 was fully closed for several hours between Pylle Village Hall and Bagborough Lane.

The police have thanked the public for their patience during the road closure and appeal for their help in piecing together the events that led to the crash.

If you have any information regarding the A37 collision, please contact the Avon and Somerset Police on 111.
