A weekend to remember: from pumpkin carving to Westfest, Shepton Mallet has it all

As autumn leaves begin to fall and Halloween decorations adorn the streets, Shepton Mallet is offering a weekend full of vibrant activities for everyone to enjoy.
From family-friendly pumpkin carving to a major electronic music festival, there's something for everyone. This weekend roundup is brought to you in partnership with the Bath & West Showground, whose generous support we gratefully acknowledge.
Begin the weekend with pick-your-own pumpkins at Farrington's Farm Shop & Café on Friday, 27th October, from 9 am to 3 pm. For the younger crowd, Bruton Museum is hosting storytelling from 2 pm to 2:45 pm. Adults can relive the '90s with DJ Matt Ettle at The Art Bank Cafe from 7 pm to 11 pm.
For film aficionados, 'Cairo Conspiracy' will be screening at The Jubilee Hall by the Batcombe Film Society from 7 pm to 10 pm. Or if you're feeling brave, join the Halloween Ghost Hunt at Shepton Mallet Prison from Friday to Saturday.

Saturday, 28th October, will feature the highly anticipated Westfest 2023 at the Bath & West Showground. This major electronic music festival promises an unforgettable Halloween experience, boasting five separate arenas and a line-up of leading artists in the drum and bass and hardstyle genres.

For family-friendly fun, don't miss the 'Spooky Specials' event at East Somerset Railway, taking place both on Saturday and Sunday.

Collett Park is the place to be for pumpkin enthusiasts this weekend. Activities kick off on Friday from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Collett Park Café, featuring pumpkin carving, face painting, biscuit decorating, and more. Return on Sunday, 29th October, from 4 pm to 5 pm for a candle-lit pumpkin parade, with prizes awarded and donations going to MIND in Shepton Mallet.
