Grace Harris House to unveil dedicated plaque and garden in touching ceremony
By Laura Linham 26th Oct 2023
Shepton Mallet's Grace Harris House is inviting the community to an afternoon tea on Thursday, 26th October, for a very special occasion.
The residential home, located at 24 Town Street, will be honouring the memory of a late resident with the unveiling of a dedicated plaque and newly renovated garden.
The touching ceremony comes after the resident's family set up a donation box during his funeral back in May, the proceeds of which were given to Grace Harris House.
"This will help our residents feel that this is more of a home," said Ann, a support worker at the facility.
In a fantastic community effort, volunteers from B&Q in Frome and Glastonbury took on the task of revitalising the garden.
Further support came in the form of a donation from the Rotary Club in Shepton Mallet, which was used to purchase new furniture for the garden space.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us, particularly the family of our late resident," Ann added. "It's wonderful to see the community come together for such a worthwhile cause."
