Collett Park in Shepton Mallet has officially been recognised as one of the best parks in the country after being awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award — an international mark of excellence for well-managed green spaces.

The award, handed out by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, is the national benchmark for parks and public green spaces. Collett Park now joins a select group of parks across the UK that meet the highest standards of environmental management, cleanliness, safety and community access.

The recognition is seen as a testament to the hard work and commitment of those who maintain the park year-round, ensuring it remains a welcoming, safe and well-kept space for residents and visitors alike.

Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, praised the local efforts: "Congratulations to everyone involved in Collett Park who have worked tirelessly to ensure that it achieves the high standards required for the Green Flag Award.

The Green Flag Award scheme is managed under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, and recognises the very best parks and green spaces both nationally and internationally.

Collett Park has long been one of Shepton Mallet's most treasured community assets, hosting regular events and providing a space for people of all ages to relax, exercise and connect with nature. The award cements its place not just as a local favourite, but as one of the top parks in the UK.
