Shepton Snowdrops Sculpture Trail

Where

Shepton Mallet

When

17 Feb 2022 - 25 Feb 2022

UNTIL Friday 25 February

Look out for eight giant snowdrop sculptures and installations around Shepton Mallet during the snowdrop festival.

Inspired and created by artists Fiona Campbell, Zac Greening, Chris Kampf, Mandy McKenna, Angela Morley and Gill Sakakini. Works can be discovered both indoors and outside.

The Festival's theme is 'Hope in Nature'. The artwork created by Gill Sakakini and volunteers in the community (all ages) is a giant snowdrop depicting hope coming down into our space.

Fiona Campbell says: 'I've mainly using recycled copper, plastic piping and wire for my three giant structures and grateful for contributions from Cranmore/Dean residents of plastic bags/netting and tent fabric. I added these as a 'skin' for the petals, stems and leaves. Re-purposing unwanted/discarded plastic for the sculptures is an 'artivist' act addressing environmental issues of waste, over-consumption, and our plastic oceans. My pieces can be found at the entrance to Collett Park, opposite Whitstone School, between 17th-25th February.'

There are all sorts of other events too, in celebration of Shepton snowdrops and the heritage of James Allen - Snowdrop King.
