Shepton Mallet road to shut for 5 days as Truespeed digs In

Drivers in Shepton Mallet are facing a fresh headache as a key stretch of Cornhill is set to shut down for five full days.
The closure, announced by Somerset Council, will see Cornhill sealed off 24 hours a day from Monday, June 23 to Friday, June 27—affecting the 107-metre stretch between Leg Square and Frithfield Lane.
The reason? Broadband company Truespeed is moving in to carry out remedial works—though locals are already bracing for the disruption.
The council insists the closure is necessary "for the safety of the public and to prevent serious damage to the road," but motorists are being urged to steer clear and plan alternative routes.
