News in Shepton Mallet

Location: Marston Magna Road, Marston Magna, Yeovil

3 fire appliances from Yeovil, Shepton Mallet and Sherborne (Dorset and Wiltshire FRS), together with the aerial ladder platform from Yeovil, were initially mobilised to a lady who had half fallen through a garage roof.

Shortly after our crews from Yeovil and Sherborne arrived on scene, the lady was quickly located and rescued using personnel alone, no equipment needed. She was rescued without any injuries and did not require an ambulance either. Once crews were satisfied with the ladys safety and that of the scene, she was left in the care of her husband. The fire appliance from Shepton Mallet and Aerial from Yeovil were returned on route, as they were not required.

Location: Gold Hill, Batcombe, Shepton Mallet

Crews from Shepton Mallet were called to reports of an alarm sounding at the above location.
On arrival crews discovered that there had been a small fire on the first floor of the property involving a mattress. This fire was caused by a candle and the fire was now out.
Crews ensured the property was safe.

Location: A361, West Pennard

Crews from Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury and the rescue tender from Glastonbury were mobilised to reports of an RTC at the above location.
On arrival crews discovered a two vehicle RTC with one person trapped by the drivers door.
Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof to extricate the casualty. Then made both vehicles safe.

Location: Manor House Road, Glastonbury

Crews from Street, Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury were mobilised to reports of a property fire at the above location.
On arrival crews discovered a property that had been converted into flats. The fire was affecting a ground floor flat.
The fire involved a camping stove and kitchen utensils.
Forced entry was made to the property and crews used two breathing apparatus, one attack jet, one safety jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.

Location: Upper Breach, South Horrington Village

Fire engines from Wells, Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury were sent to a report of a smell of burning within a commercial property at the above location.
On arrival the crews confirmed that this was coming from a small fire in a light fitting which the crews extinguished by isolating the electricity supply.  They investigated using a triple extension ladder and a thermal imaging camera. 
The crews left duty of care with people on site who contacted a local electrician to attend.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a member of the public reporting  a caravan on fire at the above location.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed that one caravan was well alight. Crews quickly got to work with two hose reel jets and one compressed air foam jet to tackle the fire.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call reporting a chimney fire at the above location.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed a chimney fire at this property. Crew got to work at the hearth and extinguished the fire using chimney equipment and thermal imaging camera.
