Citizens Advice Mendip has taken a significant step towards ensuring its services are accessible to all residents, with the introduction of a new kiosk in Shepton Mallet.
The initiative, targeted at those without internet access or a phone, offers an easy-to-use solution to contact an adviser or access information on the Citizens Advice national website.
The innovative kiosk is located at the Shepton Town Council, providing a simple interface for users. Residents can pick up the phone to connect instantly with a local adviser without needing to dial a number, or they can request a call back or send an email for advice via the computer screen.
The kiosk operates from Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm. Its public location ensures easy accessibility for residents and acts as a constant reminder that assistance with issues they may be facing is readily available.
Faith Guest, Operations Manager for Citizens Advice Mendip said: "We are introducing this service to reach out to those people in the community who are vulnerable and may not be able to use the phone or the internet to contact us. The new kiosks offer a simple way of getting in touch with us. We're not a faceless call centre – many of our advisers have been working in the local area for many years!"
The installation at Shepton Mallet is part of a wider initiative that includes Wells, Glastonbury, Street, and Frome. This significant move by Citizens Advice signifies its commitment to the accessibility of its essential services for the entire community.
