Shepton Mallet Prison is set to stun locals and visitors alike with its innovative 'Evening Behind Bars' event series, blending an immersive experience of prison history with creative workshops and exhibitions.
The series kicks off on Tuesday, July 9th, from 6 PM.
The first event titled 'Tanys Transformations' promises a fascinating evening where wedding dresses will be transformed into glamorous ballgowns and prom dresses.
This transformation not only showcases creative flair but also supports local charities and community groups throughout Somerset. Tickets are available for £10, and there's a 50% discount for annual pass holders.
Attendees will be welcomed with a choice of hot, cold, or alcoholic beverages upon arrival.
The event will feature an interactive workshop led by Tanys, the visionary behind the dress transformations.
Participants will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the reimagining of a wedding dress themed around 'women behind bars'. This piece will be displayed alongside over 70 other striking dresses as part of the prison's summer exhibition.
Tanys will also hold a Q&A session, sharing insights into her creative process, the setup of the exhibition, and the stories behind the extraordinary dresses on display.
