Whitstone School in Shepton Mallet is delighted to report the exceptional performance by its students in Year 11 this year.

The results achieved by students have been hailed as outstanding in terms of both their progress over five years at Whitstone School and also in terms of securing the highest grades available.

Head teacher, Guy Swallow, said: "This cohort of students has faced considerable challenges during their two-year courses and have demonstrated real resilience, character and perseverance.

"We are proud of every individual and of the year group as a whole for their exceptional results. These grades are just as deserved as those achieved during previous years and are the culmination of a number of years of hard work.

"Each of these grades reflect the talent, dedication and hard work of each individual student, and they should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved in such difficult circumstances.

"As a staff group however, we are very aware that these exam results are only part of the picture and we are equally proud of the wonderful young adults our students have developed into during their time with us at Whitstone School. We wish them all the very best for the next stage of their lives."

Whitstone School has undergone considerable change over the past 18 months and has seen student attendance figures this year soar above national averages, student numbers increase leading to a number of year groups being oversubscribed and the development of national partnerships around provision for SEND students, teaching and learning, and student leadership.

Mr Swallow said: "I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Whitstone School for their hard work, skill and pastoral care of students during this year.

"They have worked immensely hard to keep our young people safe, teach excellent lessons both in school and online and have also worked together to raise standards in all aspects of our school."

Whitstone School is a relatively small secondary school, with approximately 550 students. The size of the school enables each student to be supported in the most appropriate and effective way for their individual needs, as each teacher knows their individual personalities, strengths and weaknesses.

If you are considering secondary school options for your Year 5 or 6 child, there will be an Open Event on September 15 at Whitstone School. Please keep an eye on the school's website and social media for dates and further information.
