Residents of Shepton Mallet will soon head to the polls to elect two new town councillors, with elections set to take place on Wednesday 17 July.

Two seats are currently vacant on Shepton Mallet Town Council – one in East Ward and one in West Ward – and each ward has four nominees standing for election. The vote gives local residents the opportunity to decide who they want to represent them on the town council going forward.

The election will be held between 7am and 10pm on the day, with one councillor to be elected in each ward.

In the coming weeks, candidates are expected to share their campaign messages and materials with voters, and the council is encouraging residents to take time to read about each nominee before casting their vote.
