Chilcompton industrial estate to grow after approval given for 17 employment units to be built

An industrial estate in Chilcompton is set to increase in size after planning approval was given for the building of 17 employment units.

The planning application for a proposed 17 new single-storey employment units on land at South Rock Industrial Estate, Chilcompton, was submitted to Mendip District Council by Mr R Thorner.

The site is currently pasture land, and the application has been amended several times over the period of submission to address both highway issues of parking and turning on site, and drainage concerns.

Mendip District Council has now approved the plans, saying the proposed employment development is considered to be of a manner and of a scale appropriate to its location.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been submitted to Mendip District Council this week include:

Erection of lorry workshop and detached garage with office space over at Wayside Farm House, Redlands Farm Lane to Prestleigh Road, Evercreech, has been applied for by C Duck.

Single-storey rear and two-storey side extensions to enlarge existing dwelling to create a separate dwelling at 24 Neales Way, Evercreech, are wanted by Mr and Mrs Peake.

Planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area that have been decided by Mendip District Council this week include:

Replacement of existing timber garden building and log store with new garden building in excess of 2.5m high and change of use of part rear garden from agricultural to residential at Shilling House, High Street, West Lydford, by Mrs Jane Frampton has been approved.

Erection of two-storey rear extension in place of existing single-storey extension and replacement of front porch at 89 Mendip Vale, Coleford, by Mr Andrew Jones has been approved.

Works to trees covered by Preservation Orders G1 - (M197) trees on bank (sycamore, spruce, maple) - to be reduced in height by 5-10m to previous cut points at Toad Hall, 4 Domus Drive, Shepton Mallet, by Mr F Della Valle have been approved.

Approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (Joinery Details), 4 (Ducts, Pipes, Rainwater Goods), 7 (Provision and Storage of Recycling and Waste Containers), 8 (Bicycle Store) and 9 (Construction Management Plan) on planning consent 2019/2628/FUL at Harvest Court, Unit 2, The Granary, Park Road, Shepton Mallet, by Mr A Underwood has been given.

Extensions and alterations to existing dwelling at Downhead Mill, Luxtons Lane, Downhead, by Mr R Thompson have been approved.

Application for approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (bespoke trigger - roofing material) on listed building consent 2020/1561/LBC at Mulberry Cottage, Bread Street, Pilton, by Mr and Mrs J King has been approved.
