Plans submitted to build four-storey mill-style house in Shepton Mallet

A planning application has been submitted to Mendip District Council for the building of a four-storey mill-style house in Shepton Mallet.

An application for outline planning permission with all matters reserved for the building of an eco-friendly detached stone-built mill-dwellinghouse at River Valley House, Pike Hill, Shepton Mallet, has been submitted by Kevin Young.

Overlooking the fields, river and valley, the three-bedroom house would be located between two existing new-build properties.

To make it eco-friendly, the home would have air heat source pumps fitted, plus water storage tanks and solar panels.

Other planning applications in the Shepton Mallet area submitted to Mendip District Council this week include:

Replace existing wooden sash windows with PVC equivalents at 24 Town Street, Shepton Mallet, are wanted by Mr Bonstow.

Erection of a single-storey rear extension and replacement of the front porch at 1 High Street, Evercreech, has been applied for by Ms Becky Steward.

Works to a tree in a Conservation Area T1- Conifer - fell at The Lawn, 9 Paul Street, Shepton Mallet, are wanted by Mr Robert Thornton.

Proposed cycle parking rack to existing car park at Pilton Parish Hall, St Mary's Lane, Pilton, has been applied for by Mr Lewis Fox.

To convert the traditional farm buildings into three dwellings including removing parts of the more modern elements and adding a modest extension at Manor Farm, Prestleigh Hill, Prestleigh, is wanted by Mr J Newth.

Widening of access and installation of timber gates, erection of stone wall and garden gate, adding coping to existing wall and regularisation of four rooflights at 17 Great Ostry, Shepton Mallet, have been applied for by Mrs Charis Selwood.

Rear single storey extension at 1 Pines Close, Chilcompton, is wanted by Teresa and Mark Sealey.

TPO M1202 - T1 - Weeping Willow - Remove the torn and cracked branches, reduce the height of the tree by 5m and reduce the remaining crown by 4-6m in all directions to leave the tree with a balanced crown structure; T2 - Weeping Willow - Reduce the height of the tree by 5m and reduce the remaining crown by 4-6m in all directions at 2 Maxwell Road, Shepton Mallet, have been applied for by Jane Colbourne.

Proposed 542cm wide x 398cm deep and 437cm high workshop with pitched roof at 30 Whitstone Road, Shepton Mallet, is wanted by Mr Jason Lock.

Works to trees in a Conservation Area G1 - Sycamore Stools - Crown Raising to 25 feet for removal of overhanging branches at Waters Edge Cottage, 11 Draycott Road, Shepton Mallet, have been applied for by Mr Naunton.

Felling of a tree in a Conservation Area T1 - Cypress - Fell at Station Cottage, Weston Town, Evercreech, is wanted by Mr Ide.

Extensions and alterations to existing dwelling at Downhead Mill, Luxtons Lane, Downhead, have been applied for by Mr R Thompson.

Application for a certificate of lawful existing development for the existing access to the dwelling Paddock Lodge, in the lane off Holcombe Hill, Holcombe, has been approved.

Demolition of existing agricultural barn and erection of detached dwelling at Hurlingpot Farm, Kings Road, Doulting, by Mr G Perry has been approved.

Application to vary condition 2 (plans list 0360/001 and 0360/101D) of planning approval 2019/2186/HSE (Proposed rear single storey and dormer extension, internal alterations and erection of garages and store/workshop to land at rear), to allow for patio doors on south and west elevation of garage, continuation of attic trusses above the gym and workshop at Karim, Station Road, Wanstrow, by Mrs Catherine Kelly has been approved.

First floor rear extension over existing ground floor extension at Staddle Stones, Queens Road, Evercreech, by Mr C Davis and Mrs S Moon has been approved.

Works to a tree in a Conservation Area T1 Ash - Pollard to a high frame work by removing approx 5m of height and lateral growth at the Brewers Arms, Weymouth Road, Evercreech, have been approved.

Works to trees covered by TPO M93 (G1) at the Church Of St Peter, Church View, Evercreech, have been approved.

Demolish shed and erection of single storey artist studio/summer house at Folly Lodge, Folly Lane, North Wootton, by Ms Charlotte Humpston has been approved.

Demolition of existing side and rear extensions and erection of front, side and rear extensions at Westfield, Fosse Way, Hornblotton, by Mr Colin Martin have been approved.

Erection of single-storey side extension and complete cladding of existing bungalow with natural stone following approval 2012/1131 (expired) at Beans Land Farm, Long Lane, Wanstrow, by Mr Roger Cuss has been approved.

Felling of trees in a Conservation Area T1-T3 - Beech Trees - Fell at 6 Kale Street, Batcombe, by Mrs Obaldy has been approved.

Works to trees in a Conservation Area T1 - Sycamore: remove limbs, pollard to approx 5m, T2 - Sycamore: prune by approx 4m, T3 - Sycamore: prune by approx 4m, T4 - Sycamore: pollard to approx 5m at 16 Coombe Lane, Shepton Mallet, have been approved.

Proposed works to tree/s in a Conservation Area: T1 (Paulonia) - Pollard to 2.5m, T2 (Norway Maple) - Reduction by 3m (30 per cent), T3 (Lime) - Fell, T4 (Catalpa) - Fell, T5 (Ginko) Coppice, T6 (Tulip) - Remove lowest limb, T7 (Apple) - Fell at Church House, St Mary's Lane, Pilton, by Mr Tristan Herridge have been approved.

Felling of a tree in a Conservation Area T1 - Oak - Fell at Batcombe Village Hall, Back Lane, Batcombe, by Mrs Pool has been approved.

Felling of a tree in a Conservation Area T1 - Laburnum - Fell at Southwell, Shapway Lane, Evercreech, by Dr Lindsay has been approved.

Application for a non-material amendment to permission 2019/2491/HSE for the substitution of proposed north/rear windows and doors with UPVC windows and doors, colour to match existing at 5 Winsley Way, Chilcompton, by Stonewater Housing Association has been approved.

Felling of trees in a Conservation Area T1 - T3 - Ash Trees - Fell at Shortwood Farmhouse, Kale Street, Batcombe by Mr Wotton has been approved.
