Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a member of the public that there was a fire in the bedroom of her property.

On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that there was a fire in the bedroom of the property and requested the attendance of another appliance which came from Street.

Location: Stocks Lane. North Wootton, Shepton Mallett

Fire appliances from Shepton Mallett and Wells were mobilised to a report of smoke and a fire alarm sounding at the above location.
On arrival at the scene firefighters reported smoke issuing from the building.  Fire crews confirmed a fire in a tumble dryer in the downstairs laundry room and set to work using 2 breathing apparatus wearers, 1 hosereel jet, 1 thermal image camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the building.    Crews isolated the tumble dryer and monitored it until it was a safe temperature.

Location: Compton Bishop, Axbridge.

The Fire Service were called to reports of a heathland fire at the above location. Fire control mobilised one fire appliance from Cheddar, one fire appliance from Winscombe, one 4 by 4 pumping vehicle from Burnham-on-Sea and the water carrier from Bridgwater.

The crew got to work immediately to extinguish the fire with the use of 8 beaters however this was made difficulty for the firefighters due to limited access to the affected area.

Investment of more than £224m in highways, schools, other capital projects over the next four years was agreed by Somerset County Council today.

Highways, traffic management and engineering projects will see investment of £57m for projects including Bridgwater's Colley Lane (£3.8m), Junction 25 of the M5 (£1m), the Taunton Toneway Corridor (£1.5m), as well as the ongoing work filling potholes across the County.

Location: Thickthorn Lane, Chilcompton

The Fire Service were called to a report of a car on fire at the above location.  One fire engine from Shepton Mallet was mobilised to this incident.  On arrival crews confirmed the vehicle was well alight and got to work preparing to extinguish.
One car 50% destroyed by fire and smoke.  Extinguished using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.  The cause is believed to be an electrical fault.
