Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Chilcompton in which a pedestrian died.

A car was in collision with a woman in her 70s at around 2.50pm on Friday on the B3139 Wells Road, close to the junction with Stockhill Road. The car had left the road and went on to a pavement.

Fire crews from Shepton Mallet, Wells and Castle Cary along with the Environmental Protection Unit from Taunton, were mobilised to a report of an ammonia leak at a Premises at the above location.
Fire crews isolated the leak of approximately 600 kilos of ammonia within a refridgeration system using breathing apparatus wearers, gas tight suits and thermal image cameras.  There was no impact to the environment from the leak.

Date: 18.05.2019Time: 18:31Location: Old Wells Road, Chantry, FromeOne fire appliance from Frome, one from Shepton Mallet and the Rescue Tender from Trowbridge were sent to a report of a road traffic collision at the above location.On arrival crews confirmed that the incident involved one vehicle and that one male person was trapped.  Fire crews released the casualty using stabilising equipment, wire strops, ratchet straps and a telehandler. The injured man was taken to hospital by air ambulance.  Police also attended.

On the Saturday 18th May dinosaurs return to Collett Park in Shepton Mallet as the park hosts two free performances for local families of Stones and Bones by Squashbox Theatre.

Made possible by funding from Shepton Mallet Town Council and the Arts Council, these performances are free and open to all the family. There will be two shows at 11am and 3pm by the bandstand, aimed at 5-11 year olds.
