Somerset Skills and Learning are excited to announce that their Apprentice of the Month winner for March is Jacey, who works in Shepton Mallet.
Jacey is a Customer Service apprentice at Grove House Surgery in Shepton Mallet. Her SS&L tutor, Andrew McDermott, and her manager, Teresa Cawsey, say why she's been chosen.

Binegar's Yonder Brewing and Blending will be opening its gates from Saturday April 17 and every Saturday afterwards, from noon to 9pm.
Outdoor seating and full table service will enable visitors to enjoy Yonder's beer on tap, alongside specials, with cans and bottles also available for takeaway.

Somerset Community Foundation (SCF), which is based at the Bath and West Showground near Shepton Mallet, is delighted to have been awarded a High Sheriff's Special Recognition Award, which cites the "outstanding work to the community in Somerset and for their acts of thoughtfulness and kindness during the coronavirus pandemic of 2020".
SCF launched the Somerset Coronavirus Appeal on 19th March 2020, just a few days before the first national lockdown was announced.

Outdoor hospitality will be among those reopening in Shepton Mallet today (April 12) as planned easements to the coronavirus restrictions go ahead.
Significant parts of the indoor economy and further outdoor settings will reopen from today, after data confirmed the government's "four tests" for easing Covid restrictions had been met.

In a bid to raise money to build a new swimming pool at the Mendip School in Prestleigh, the staff at the Horse and Jockey, Binegar, and The Barber Company in Midsomer Norton are taking on a 26.2 mile challenge.
With almost a year of closure and missed fundraising opportunities, the staff and customers at the Horse and Jockey are supporting the appeal to raise £1.1 million for the new swimming pool at the special school. The appeal is close to landlady Nikki's heart as Jack, her son, attends the Mendip School.
Following the sad news yesterday (April 9) that His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, has passed away, Shepton Mallet's MP James Heappey has paid tribute to him.
Mr Heappey said: "The death of His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, is a moment of great sadness for our country, as well as a personal moment of sorrow for Her Majesty the Queen.
