Community groups in Shepton Mallet are being reminded that there are just days left to apply for town council funding.

Shepton Mallet Town Council's current community grants round closes on March 14, with local organisations encouraged to submit applications before the deadline.

The scheme is open to properly constituted groups, clubs, committees and charities that can demonstrate clear charitable or community aims benefiting residents of Shepton Mallet.

Three funding streams are available.

One-off Small Grants offer between £1 and £500 for revenue costs linked to a specific project. One-Off Large Grants provide between £501 and £2,000 and can cover both revenue and capital costs.

Strategic Grants may be awarded in exceptional circumstances where the council wishes to commission a service or organisation it believes is critical to the wellbeing of the town. These can run for more than one year and are supported by a formal agreement.

Projects can include new initiatives or the continuation of existing services and may also be used as match funding.

Applicants must provide detailed information about their group, the proposed project, projected costs, governance arrangements and relevant policies, including safeguarding and equalities compliance where applicable. Supporting documents such as recent accounts and evidence of project costs are also required.
