A quiet backstreet in Shepton Mallet has been transformed for the new Guy Ritchie series Young Sherlock — which launches on Prime Video tomorrow (March 4).

Frithfield Lane was used as a filming location for the eight-part drama, with set dressers turning the street back to the 1870s for the production. Shepton Mallet Prison also featured in the series.

The cast and crew spent around two weeks in Somerset during 2024, filming scenes in Shepton including at the Cornhill and along Frithfield Lane.

Main production was based in Bristol, which doubled as 1870s Oxford for the period detective series.

Young Sherlock stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin as the young detective, with Donal Finn playing Moriarty. The series will be available to stream on Prime Video from Wednesday, March 4.

Somerset Council's Screen Somerset team helped facilitate filming in the county.
