The family of Michael George Knowlson have paid tribute after he died in a collision on the A371 at Dinder, near Wells and Shepton Mallet, at around 3pm on Wednesday 18 February.

Mr Knowlson, 34, died at the scene. His family described him as "a devoted son, a caring brother, a loving daddy, and a loyal friend" who will be "forever loved and remembered by all who knew him in Croscombe and beyond".

In a statement, they said: "With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael George Knowlson, taken tragically far too soon at just 34 years old.

"Michael was so much more than words can capture — a devoted son, a caring brother, a loving daddy, and a loyal friend. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort, and his absence leaves a silence in our lives and a hole in our hearts that will never truly be filled.

"As a father, Michael's love was deep and unconditional. His son was his world, and everything he did was guided by his love for Mason."

They added that although his life was "heartbreakingly short", his impact was "immeasurable".

"We are utterly heartbroken and struggling to come to terms with the loss of Michael and the immense impact he had on our lives. His absence has left a hole in our lives that can never be filled. We ask you to respect our privacy at this time and let us grieve in peace."

A charity football match, known as Mike's Match, will be held in his memory on Sunday 8 March at Strode College Sports Centre from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

A service to celebrate his life will take place at St Cuthbert's Church in Wells on Friday 20 March at 11am. This will be followed by a burial at Wells Cemetery for family and close friends only.

After the service, family and friends are invited to Wells Football Club to continue sharing memories and celebrating his life.

Family flowers only have been requested. Donations may be made to Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Police have previously appealed for anyone who can help their investigation into the A371 collision to call 101 quoting reference 5226046895, or to complete an online appeals form.
