Results of an exclusive Nub News Readers' poll reveal that Labour's anticipated dominance in the upcoming general election might not be as comprehensive as expected.

With warnings to Sir Kier Starmer of complacency, 29% of subscribers in our towns across the country said they currently plan to vote for a Labour candidate come July 4.

This figure starkly contrasts with the 42% vote share predicted for Labour by other sources, painting a picture of a much tighter and uncertain race.

However, the lower numbers Labour will still be little consolation to Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives who sit second in the poll with just 20% of the votes - which would be less than half the amount they received in the 2019 election.

The Tories only narrowly edged out Nigel Farage's Reform and Sir Ed Davey's Liberal Democrats who each had 19% of the vote share, taking the votes from Labour.

In the Wells and the Mendip Hills seat, the political landscape is shaping up intriguingly as recent polling indicates a strong lead for the Liberal Democrats:

• Tessa Munt (Liberal Democrats): 54.42%
• Helen Hims (Reform UK): 14.16%
• Meg Powell-Chandler (Conservative Party): 13.72%
• Abi McGuire (Independent): 8.41%
• Joe Joseph (Labour Party): 5.31%
• Peter Welsh (Green Party): 3.54%
• Craig Clarke (Independent): 0.44%

This snapshot from the Nub News survey suggests that Lib Dem Tessa Munt is the current the front-runner, showing considerable support in the area.

Following her, Helen Hims of Reform UK and Meg Powell-Chandler from the Conservative Party are also prominent contenders. Independent candidate Abi McGuire has attracted many supporters, followed by Joe Joseph from the Labour Party and Peter Welsh of the Green Party and Independent Craig Clarke.

Nub News polled 3,000 newsletter subscribers between 12.30pm on Wednesday 12 June and midnight on Thursday 13 June. Readers were only able to register a single vote for a local candidate. esults were not weighted demographically.
