This Sunday, Shepton Mallet will pause to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country with solemn Remembrance Day services and parades.

The community will gather to remember the valiant service members from both the British and Commonwealth armed forces who laid down their lives in the World Wars, as well as those who perished in subsequent conflicts, including the Falklands War and operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Residents are invited to join the commemoration at The Cenotaph on Sunday 12, assembling at 10.35am for the parade to commence at 10.45am. The Shepton Mallet British Legion will lead the service, reflecting the town's deep ties to the armed forces and its long-standing tradition of remembrance.

The service at The Cenotaph will be followed by a parade to St Peter and St Paul's Church, culminating in a Remembrance service at 11.20am, where the community will continue to pay their respects.

In the spirit of togetherness and reflection, the Royal British Legion club will open its doors at around 10.30am and a community buffet will be held, where attendees are encouraged to contribute a plate of food to share. This event is open to everyone, not just Legion members, highlighting the inclusive atmosphere of the day's commemorations.

Children are also welcome to attend, making it a truly community-wide event.
