Shepton shop windows become stages for free evening of shows
By Laura Linham 21st Oct 2026
Shop windows across Shepton Mallet will become miniature stages this Friday as Shepton on Show returns to the town centre. The free event runs from 6pm to 8pm, with performers, artists and community groups taking over windows and other spaces.
Visitors can explore at their own pace, discovering music, characters and performances along the way. There is no fixed starting point or set route, and families can arrive at any time during the two-hour event.
An Art Bank spokesperson said: "Shepton on Show is about bringing people into the town and giving them something joyful and unexpected to discover. You never quite know what you are going to find in the next window or around the next corner.
"It's a chance to explore Shepton, support local businesses and enjoy two hours of brilliant creative bonkersness. There's no fixed starting point and no set route—just come into town, have a wander and see what you find."
The town-centre event is family-friendly, with visitors moving between the performances rather than gathering around a single main stage. Shop windows and other spaces will give local performers and groups places to share their work.
Later in the evening, the Art Bank will host a separate LGBTQ+ Halloween Special from 9pm to 11pm. That event is strictly for over-18s, with free entry.
The line-up features drag performances from Sasha Silk, Shorti, Rayyyven and ThePennyDrops. Fancy dress is encouraged, with prizes for the best costumes, and LGBTQ+ people and allies are welcome.
Further information about the Art Bank and its events is available on the Art Bank website.
