Shepton Mallet police step up patrols over electric bike misuse

Police in Shepton Mallet have issued a safety alert after reports of electric dirt bikes and scooters being ridden in public areas, including the town's skate park, which could put other users at risk

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they are aware of ongoing incidents of unauthorised riding in shared spaces that has the potential to cause accidents and injuries.

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) will be increasing patrols in affected areas and engaging with local people to tackle the issue and discourage dangerous behaviour. Authorities say the measures aim to make parks and play spaces safer for everyone.

Residents are being encouraged to report concerns directly to local officers or via the non‑emergency contact channels if they see such activity taking place.
