Shepton Mallet doll signed by Coldplay to raise cash for air ambulance
By Laura Linham 26th Jan 2026
A one‑of‑a‑kind Coldplay collectible created in Shepton Mallet is being offered as a prize to boost fundraising for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance's 2ndHeli Appeal.
The handmade knitted doll of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin was crafted by local maker Sandra Witcombe to celebrate the band's Glastonbury Festival 2024 headline performance. Unlike her regular knitted figures displayed in the Hive Café window, this version wears a detailed stage outfit with lyrics on the trousers and jewellery, and has a remarkable story behind it.
After being picked up from the Hive Café, the doll travelled with the band on their Music of the Spheres World Tour, spending time in dressing rooms, backstage areas and even making an appearance at the Olympiastadion in Munich. All four band members — Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion — signed the doll's T‑shirt at Wembley Stadium last summer before it was returned to Sandra.
Moved by the charity's appeal to raise the final £1 million for a second helicopter, Sandra donated the signed doll to help the cause. The prize is now part of a Crowdfunder Prize Draw running from Monday 26 January to Friday 27 February 2026, with the draw set for Tuesday 3 March 2026.
Entries start at £10 for one entry, with options for more chances to win at higher entry levels.
