Shepton Mallet asks public to pick Collett Park films
By Laura Linham 17th Mar 2026
Residents are being asked to suggest films for a free outdoor cinema day at Collett Park in Shepton Mallet this May.
Shepton Mallet Town Council is inviting residents to help choose the line-up for its 2026 outdoor cinema event at Collett Park. The free family day is due to take place on Saturday, 9 May 2026, with three screenings planned across the day.
The council said the programme will include a children's film, rated U or PG, in the morning, followed by two family-friendly 12A films in the afternoon. People in Shepton are now being asked to submit their film suggestions through an online form.
Once suggestions have been collected, the final choice will go to a public vote so the community can help decide the films shown on the day. The event is being promoted as a free outdoor cinema experience for families in one of Shepton Mallet's best-known green spaces.
Details published by the town council say the screenings will all take place in Collett Park and form part of its 2026 community events programme. Residents can submit suggestions through the council's film choice page.
The council has not yet announced the deadline for film suggestions or the titles that will go forward to the public vote. Those details are expected to follow once responses have been gathered.
