Pilton A361 closures start next week
By Laura Linham 3rd Mar 2026
Drivers are being reminded that a key route through Pilton will close next week for "vital" drainage works.
Somerset Council has confirmed that contractors Kier will carry out work on the A361 in Pilton from Monday, March 9 to Friday, March 13.
The road will be closed on weekdays between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Outside those hours, manually controlled traffic lights will be in operation.
Extra signage will be placed at either end of the A361 to warn motorists of the closure times and location.
Somerset Council's lead member for transport and waste services, Councillor Richard Wilkins, said: "The team will do their best to get the work completed as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drainage work is essential to make sure that surface water can drain away.
"We are extremely grateful to residents and motorists for their support and understanding while this work is done."
The works are aimed at improving drainage on the busy route, which runs through the village and connects Shepton Mallet with Glastonbury and beyond.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys during the closure period.
