Pilton A361 closure for drainage works
By Laura Linham 24th Feb 2026
Motorists travelling on the A361 at Pilton will face weekday daytime closures from Monday, 9 March to Friday, 13 March while Somerset Council completes vital drainage works.
The works will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day. The scheme is being delivered by the council's road contractors, Kier, to complete drainage improvements following a previous visit.
Outside of the closure times, the road will remain open under two-way traffic signals. These will be manually controlled to help reduce disruption.
Extra signs will be installed at either end of the A361 to advise drivers of the closure times and location.
Somerset Council's Lead Member for Transport and Waste Services, Councillor Richard Wilkins, said: "The team will do their best to get the work completed as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drainage work is essential to make sure that surface water can drain away.
"We are extremely grateful to residents and motorists for their support and understanding while this work is done."
Residents can report issues using the council's online "Report a problem on the road" service. Travel updates are also available via @TravelSomerset on Facebook and X.
