The Shepton Mallet Lantern Festival Committee is looking for more volunteers to fill the lovely hi-vis vests worn by stewards!

Stewards are absolutely vital to the success of the Lantern Parade. The festival needs volunteers on the night to keep everyone safe and make sure the parade goes smoothly.

The organising team are arranging for road closures this year which will make a big difference.

A spokesperson said: "Please help us to put on a great parade and end the year on a positive note.

"You get full safety instructions, a hi-vis vest to wear and a great view of the parade! Volunteers are also needed to help with lantern workshops!"

Free-to-attend lantern making workshops are at Paul St Community Centre in Shepton Mallet on weekends 27/28 November, 4/5 December and 11/12 December with the parade itself on Saturday 18 December.

As usual there will be a small charge for materials. Families are particularly welcome.

To help this great community event take place by volunteering as a steward or helping with the workshops, contact Kate at [email protected].
