Two new food and drink venues are being planned for the bottom of Town Street in Shepton.

Laura Summers, owner of The Sleek Easy Clean, has taken on three properties in the area, with two being knocked through to create one large venue. That site will become The Town Yard, a sports bar with an arcade, American diner-style food, a milkshake parlour and food challenges.

The Town Yard is expected to open in the middle of September. Laura said the menu will include loaded fries, brisket, smash burgers and milkshakes, with YouTubers already booked in to take part in food challenges.

She said: "I've got three properties at the bottom of Town Street, and two of them are being knocked through to make one large property.

"This is going to be a sports bar with an arcade and American diner-style food, so lots of loaded fries, brisket, smash burgers, a milkshake parlour and food challenges."

A second venue, The Townhouse, is planned for the neighbouring larger unit. Laura said that site will be a cocktail bar and restaurant serving steaks and tapas.

She said: "Next door, in the largest unit, is going to be The Townhouse, which will be a cocktail bar and restaurant serving steaks and tapas."

The Townhouse is currently hoped to open in December. Laura said the long-term ambition is to develop the restaurant side further, with a focus on higher-end dining.

She said: "In the future we will be going for rosettes and Michelin star standards."

The two openings would bring new evening, food and leisure venues to the lower end of the town centre. Further details, including confirmed opening dates, menus and booking arrangements, are expected to be announced nearer launch.

Laura added: "We want to bring something exciting and different to Shepton — somewhere people can come for sport, food, drinks, games and a proper night out. There is a lot planned, and we can't wait to open the doors."
