Shepton podcasters bag interview with astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield

By Guest 11th Aug 2025

Local tractor enthusiast, Tobias Wedgwood, 38 and his fiance Heather-Juliette Bryson have bagged an interview with astronaut and former ISS Comander, Colonel Chris Hadfield.

The couple, from Shepton Mallet, present a fun and informational Youtube series called 'Fun With Tractors'. The whole family are huge aviation and space fans, due to a passion for innovation and engineering. When Tobi spotted an instagram post by Colonel Haffield which featured a little vintage Farmall tractor, he reached out online, but didnt expect to hear back.

Last week, Tobi recieved an email from Chris's marketing team saying he would love to give a short interview, ten minutes no more , as he's a very busy man.

On a zoom call from Somerset, United Kingdom to Ontario, Canada- the pair chatted for longer than the alloted time, as Chris was so passionate about his beloved tractor.

It turns out, his father, who has recently passed, owned 35 vintage tractors!

The first experience of engineering , the re ord breaking astronaut had, was on the large family farm, on a tractor.

Chris , who recently completed a talking tour of the UK, is planning a return soon. He has just written his sixth book, is touring with his band and is busy running a global tech and aerospace consultancy, but says, he'll always have time for the farm.

Commander Hadfield spills the beans about life in space, and gives some unexpected insights during this exclusive youtube podcast available to watch here.

obi and Heather, are also being filmed by BBC Points West this week about a fascinating deep ocean tractor rescue mission, a new mental health nature space launching near Wells & Shepton Mallet soon 'Wedgwood Field, restoring vintage tractors and their podcast's popularity.

You can also catch the couple at The Midsomerset Show on Saturday 17th August, where they'll be showing their restored purple vintage Fergusson TE- 20 and filming their next Youtube episode. Their mascot Teddy 'The Supervisor' , a long haired mini dacshund, will be available to stroking, and might even be entered in the dog show.

"We're hoping to film a series of episodes about how local Carnival Clubs use tractors, and are always looking for local tractor owners, and interesting celebrities to talk to. Pop along to the show, or get in touch!" Heather laughed.
