Little feet, big hearts: Little Wellies nursery raises over £700 in Memory of Ottie

On 17 May, families and staff from Little Wellies Nursery laced up their walking shoes for a heartfelt six-mile journey from Shepton Mallet to Wells.
The final fundraising total has now been confirmed — an impressive £750 — in memory of Ottie, a child who received care from Children's Hospice South West's local hospice, Charlton Farm in Wraxall.
Now in its third year, the annual walk has become a cherished tradition for the nursery and the wider community. Including previous years, the event has raised a total of £3,677 for the hospice.
This year's walk was especially moving, with Ottie's family joining for the final leg, bringing an emotional close to a day filled with remembrance, connection and purpose.
Ottie's mum, Lorna, said: "Charlton Farm made an immeasurable difference to our experience, and we will be forever grateful to the entire team."
Children's Hospice South West provides expert care and support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions across the region. Services include short breaks, specialist play, sibling support and end-of-life care.
The charity relies almost entirely on public donations to continue its work, with less than 11% of its £14 million annual running costs covered by government funding.
Kylie Gallagher, Area Fundraiser for Children's Hospice South West, said: "Thank you so much to Valerie, Lauren and all the Little Wellies team and friends for their continued support of Charlton Farm in memory of Ottie. I'm already looking forward to next year's event!"
