Shepton Mallet has emerged as a standout among local markets with house prices climbing sharply over the past year, according to Land Registry data.

In the 12 months to July 2025, average property prices in the BA4 postcode rose to £356,576.40, up from £326,512.90 the previous year — a rise of 9.21%.

This gain contrasts with neighbouring Glastonbury, where prices fell by 5.91%, and Street, which saw a drop of 0.66%. Wells also recorded modest growth at 1.98%.

The data suggest Shepton Mallet is bucking the broader regional trend, attracting greater demand or value growth compared with neighbouring areas.
