Four candidates confirmed for Shepton Mallet East Ward by-election

Shepton Mallet residents will head to the polls next month to elect two new members to the Town Council.
The East Ward by-election will be held on Thursday 23 October 2025, with polling stations open from 7am to 10pm. Four candidates have been officially nominated to contest the two available seats.
The confirmed candidates are:
- Fergus Brown (Independent)
- Richard Last (The Conservative Party Candidate)
- Christine Martin-Nicholson (Liberal Democrats)
- David Swain (Reform UK)
Over the coming weeks, residents can expect to see campaign materials and public messages from each of the candidates. Voters are encouraged to consider their options carefully before casting their ballot.
Only residents of the East Ward will be eligible to vote in this election.
