Fire Control received a phone call from a neighbour who had noticed that their adjacent home's bathroom appeared to be on fire. Fire services from Shepton Mallet, Wells, and Castle Cary were immediately mobilised to the scene.

Upon their arrival, fire crews confirmed a fire had broken out in a boiler room, situated opposite the bathroom. A team equipped with breathing apparatus and an extended hose reel jet immediately began firefighting operations.

It was not long before the blaze was brought under control. However, with their thorough approach to safety, crews then used a thermal imaging camera to detect any remaining hotspots. This critical procedure ensures that even the smallest sparks or embers that could reignite a fire are spotted and extinguished.

In the aftermath of the fire, crews also used a positive pressure ventilation fan. This equipment helped clear the smoke from the property, aiding in the eventual restoration of the building.

A spokesperson for the fire service said, "Our team worked swiftly to manage the situation, but the early alert from the neighbour was crucial. We want to use this event to remind people that quick action when noticing signs of a fire can greatly reduce damage and risk to life. We would like to commend the neighbour for their vigilance and quick thinking."
