Police recorded 111 crimes in Shepton Mallet during September 2025, a small increase from 110 in August.
The monthly figures, published by Avon and Somerset Police, show that violent crime remains the most reported category in the town, with 46 offences logged in September and 47 in August.
Anti-social behaviour, which includes public disturbances, nuisance behaviour and neighbour disputes, accounted for 17 incidents in September, slightly down from 18 the previous month. Public order offences — such as threatening behaviour or harassment — dropped from 13 to 11.
Criminal damage and arson reports also fell, with 10 incidents in September compared to 12 in August. These offences cover vandalism to vehicles, property and public spaces, as well as deliberate fire damage.
However, drug-related offences rose sharply. Police recorded eight drug crimes in September, up from just two in August. This category includes the possession, supply, or production of controlled substances.
There were also small rises in shoplifting, up to seven incidents from six, and burglary, which rose from three to four. Other categories such as vehicle crime (four), other theft (three), and 'other crime' (one offence) remained low. No robberies were reported in September, following one in August.
A police spokesperson said: "While overall crime numbers remain fairly stable, we're paying close attention to the rise in drug offences and continue to carry out targeted patrols. We urge residents to report any suspicious activity — your information helps us act swiftly.
"The drop in anti-social behaviour and criminal damage is encouraging, and we're grateful to the community for working with us to keep Shepton Mallet safe."
