Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on the A371 near Shepton Mallet on Saturday afternoon.

The collision happened between Shepton and the junction with Ham Lane, near Croscombe, and led to a full road closure while emergency services responded.

The road was reopened shortly before 6pm, but police say the rider was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Officers are now urging anyone who saw the crash, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time, to come forward.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We're keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage. Your information could help us understand exactly what happened."
