Hello Shepton! Everything you want to know about Shepton Mallet in one place on new website

Local News by Laura Linham 22nd Nov 2022

Hello Shepton, a new information website for residents and visitors that makes finding local businesses, services, shopping, places to eat, community activities and events even easier has been launched by the town council today.

Shepton Mallet is a market town with a rich history, situated at the foot of the Mendip Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The town's diverse community features fantastic independent retailers, local markets and amenities.

Hello Shepton has been launched as a free resource to celebrate its community and offers a tool for businesses, services and groups to advertise their activities to the people of Shepton Mallet and the wider area. There is also a Get Active section with many great ways to help you stay active and enjoy being outdoors. This includes walking, cycling and running routes in and around Shepton Mallet, with more being added all the time.

Business owners, organisations and event organisers are encouraged to submit information to the site for the directory and the What's On list.

Matt Harrison, Chair of Shepton Mallet Town Council said, "We all know the world is a fast-changing place; the pandemic sped up changes in the way people work, travel, search for information and find out about places they both live in and visit.

"During the pandemic, we launched Help Shepton as an online sign-posting site to help people navigate through the information about our town. This was the inspiration for Hello Shepton; a 'one-stop' online resource that residents, visitors and organisations can use to freely publicise their activities or find out information about Shepton Mallet.

"The demise of our Tourist Information Centre only made giving Shepton an enhanced online presence more important. This is just the start, over time we hope to build it to become the best place online to find out everything you need to know about our town and consequently help it to flourish".

The launch is the first phase in a series of exciting future developments for the website, with plans to make Hello Shepton a community and tourism A to Z for Shepton Mallet.
