Easter escape rooms and egg hunt planned at Shepton Mallet prison
By Laura Linham 10th Mar 2026
Families looking for something different this Easter can head behind the walls of Shepton Mallet Prison, where a programme of seasonal activities has been announced for the holiday period.
Visitors can take part in themed escape room challenges as part of the Great Eggscape, where teams work together to uncover clues, solve puzzles, and complete the challenge before time runs out.
The activity is designed for families and groups looking for a problem-solving challenge during the Easter break.
Alongside the escape rooms, the prison will also host free Easter activities for visitors who have a valid prison entry ticket.
An Easter egg hunt will take place across the prison grounds, with participants searching for large decorated eggs hidden around the site. Each egg contains a letter, and visitors must collect them all to solve an anagram and claim a chocolate prize.
Younger visitors will also be able to take part in Easter-themed creative activities taking place during the event.
Families booking their visit before 22 March can also take advantage of an early bird offer, which includes £10 to spend in the prison gift shop or café when they book their experience.
The activities are part of the prison's Easter programme, offering visitors the chance to explore the historic site while taking part in seasonal events.
