The lightbulbs have only just gone out from carnival, and already Shepton Mallet Town Council are turning their attention to the next big event in the town - the Christmas light switch on.
The switch-on will be part of the town's Winter Series, which is already well underway and the final planning stages of the annual Christmas Light Switch-On are now in hand, taking place on Saturday 3rd December from 6:30-7:30pm.
The evening will see entertainment by street performer Chris Bullzini and music from Mendip Brass Band. Festive eats and drinks will be provided by Stone's Cider and Denelas Bakery, and served out by the Rotary Club.
Father Christmas will be joining Town Crier, Andy Neal and Chair, Cllr Matt Harrison to lead the countdown for the Christmas Lights Switch On, which will see the Christmas Tree and town centre spectacularly illuminated for the festive season. There will also be another performance on the night, but exactly who the special guest is, is being kept under wraps for now.
As part of the Winter Series, the festive activities continue throughout December with everything from Wreath Making and Stained Glass Workshops, Victorian Fayre Market, Woodland Tribe Christmas Build and Windsor Wonderland Christmas Market at Rock Farm and much much more.
Remember, you also still have time to sign up to the free workshops for the Lantern Festival, taking place from the end of November leading up to the spectacular event on Saturday 17th December. All workshops are taking place at the Paul Street Community Centre. Book your place and find out more at www.sheptonlanternfestival.org.uk.
