Dorothy House is honoured to announce Moments of Light, an extraordinary largescale three-month art installation created by internationally acclaimed light artist — and Dorothy House Ambassador — Bruce Munro.
The world premiere of this artwork will transform acres of the Hospice's Winsley grounds from 1 October to 31 December 2026, marking the organisation's 50th anniversary with a breathtaking immersive experience offering reflection, connection, and remembrance.
Building on the success of Bruce Munro's transformative global light installations in Australia, Japan, USA, South Korea, many European cities, and his muchloved permanent Firefly Woods installation at Dorothy House, Moments of Light invites visitors to wander among thousands of illuminated forms, creating a constellation of light that will seem to breathe with the landscape.
Alongside the existing Firefly installation within the Hospice woodland, Moments of Light forms part of an evolving collaboration that uses creativity and nature to support people through grief, offering comfort and connection. By drawing on light in the dark, the installation speaks quietly of life continuing, even in moments of loss.
While tickets are free, visitors will be invited to make a suggested donation, with all proceeds helping the Hospice continue to provide free, specialist end of life care for people and their loved ones. Visitors will also have the opportunity to dedicate a light on a Firefly — a beautiful way to honour a loved one and become part of a growing constellation of remembrance.
With bookable tickets released on 1 May 2026, demand will be high. Dorothy House invites everybody to visit this once in lifetime installation to reflect, to remember, or to experience a moment of peace within the glow of Bruce Munro's extraordinary vision.
For five decades, Dorothy House has provided specialist care, compassion and support to 75,000 people in the last 1,000 days of their lives. Moments of Light forms a centrepiece of its anniversary year, opening the Winsley site to visitors from across the UK and inviting them to experience the work of a Hospice through a new creative lens.

Dorothy House offers care, comfort and compassion to people in the last 1,000 days of their lives. We're here when it counts, helping people to live well, die peacefully and feel supported in bereavement.
We deliver specialist palliative and supportive care. We collaborate with organisations locally and internationally to improve peoples' lived experiences. We empower people to play their part and live life to the full, whatever their condition. There's always something that can make a difference.
For the past 50 years, we've provided free, personalised palliative and end of life care to thousands of people in our region, combining excellent care with practical and emotional support. We're only here because of the support we receive from those communities. Our story is their story and it's personal.
Death comes to us all. Accepting this helps us find meaning and a deeper love for life in all its shapes and forms. At Dorothy House, we may not be able to add days to life, but together we can add life to days. Death is part of life. End of life care is for all.
