Clevedon Town and Street FC fought to an intense 2-2 draw on Saturday, with both sides delivering moments of brilliance in a game packed with late chances and near misses.
The action was fast-paced from the outset. Clevedon took the lead in the first half, thanks to a scrappy moment where Street's goalkeeper, Lewis Williams, was beaten as the ball slipped through. Street struggled to get past a resilient Clevedon defence, which included strong performances from Joe Teall and Elliot Nicholson.
After the break, Street found a spark, with Ross McLain equalising in the 55th minute, driving the ball past Clevedon keeper James Dunn to make it 1-1. But Clevedon responded quickly; in the 58th minute, Lucas Vowles latched onto a long ball, holding off Jake Horsey's challenge before coolly slotting the ball into the corner of the net, putting Clevedon back in the lead at 2-1.
Street weren't about to give up. In the 66th minute, Callum Laird took a free kick that initially struck the wall, but he pounced on the rebound to fire it into the corner, levelling the score at 2-2. The game was wide open from there, with both sides pressing hard.
Clevedon made multiple substitutions to keep the energy up, including bringing on Oscar Bridgman and Harrison Kyte, who both made an impact in the closing stages. In the 90+4th minute, Teall's hard work won the ball, and he played it to Bridgman, whose cross was just narrowly missed by Kyte in a sliding effort. Just a minute later, Kyte struck again, firing into the side netting in what was the last big chance of the game.
Street also had their share of near misses, with substitute Joel Jackson and Toby Stephens pushing forward in search of a winner, but Clevedon's defence held strong. The final whistle blew at 2-2, a fair result in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end.
Both teams showed resilience and determination, with Callum Laird's late equaliser securing Street a well-deserved point, while Clevedon's dynamic play and relentless attacks kept the crowd entertained.
