The annual Mid-Somerset Agricultural Show is back once again on Sunday 18th August.

With just over a week to go, set up for the show will be beginning this Monday on the showground in Shepton Mallet for the popular one-day show.

As well as the traditional favourites of show jumping, livestock, classic cars and arts and crafts, the popular one-day agricultural show is also introducing Flyball, a hugely entertaining dog sport involving hurdles and tennis balls, to the countryside ring this year.

And, after the popularity of their display last year, the Paws for Thought dog display team will be back performing agility games and races in the Main Ring too.

The Somerset Cider Championship will be taking place showcasing some of the best cider in the region, as the well as the popular South West Cheese Awards, cheese auction and cookery demonstrations.

Meanwhile, visitors can try food and drink from across the South West in the food tent, as well as browse some of the local handicraft talent in the Arts and Craft tent.

John Challis, better known as "Boycie" from the popular TV show Only Fools and Horses, will be visiting promoting his series of books. Stop by his stand and you might be able to grab a quick selfie and signature.

It's not too late to become a member of the Mid-Somerset Show Society as well. Membership offers many perks including entry into the member's tent on show day with lunch and a great view of the main ring, as well as invitations to all the member's exclusive social events throughout the year, including the very popular pre-show party.

For more information, contact Christine Barham on 01749 938044 or go to www.midsomersetshow.org.uk.

The Mid-Somerset Show is the largest free admission show (car parking charges of £15 per car apply) in the UK, and one of the most high-profile and respected agricultural shows in the South West.
