Food traders in and around Shepton Mallet are being given the chance to serve crowds at one of Somerset's biggest event venues.

The Bath & West Showground says it is on the lookout for new, local catering units to work with across its busy year-round calendar.

The showground, near Shepton Mallet, has issued a call for caterers who want to showcase their food to visitors at events throughout the year. It says the calendar provides "plenty of opportunity" for local operators to reach a wide range of people.

Businesses with catering units are being asked to register their interest through the showground's online form. The invitation is aimed at local food traders, although the showground has not said how many new units it wants to bring in.

The Bath & West Showground hosts major public events, specialist shows and private bookings across the year. That regular footfall makes the latest call-out a potential opening for food businesses looking to get in front of larger crowds.
