A new premises licence application has been submitted for the Bath & West Showground near Shepton Mallet.

Somerset Council has added the application for the venue at Prestleigh Hill to its current licensing register, with residents and other interested parties able to make representations until Tuesday, 8 September 2026.

The council lists the application as a new premises licence, rather than a variation to an existing licence.

The Bath & West Showground is a 240-acre events venue on the A371 near Shepton Mallet and hosts a wide range of shows, festivals, exhibitions, conferences and other events throughout the year.

Its facilities include indoor exhibition halls, event spaces, a main ring and grandstand, conference facilities and extensive outdoor areas.

Somerset Council's public licensing register confirms the application and deadline but does not set out the individual licensable activities or operating hours within the main listing.

A supporting notice has been published by the authority containing further details of the application.

Anyone wishing to comment on a premises licence application must make representations before the published deadline as part of the formal licensing process.

The application remains under consideration and no decision has yet been made.
