Shepton Mallet travellers offered accessible day trips

Shepton Mallet residents looking for a summer day out can choose from ten coach and minibus trips visiting wildlife attractions, shopping centres, historic sites and seaside towns. Lin's Leisure Trips will run the outings between Friday, 17 July and Friday, 25 September 2026, with wheelchair-accessible transport available when required.

The not-for-profit Community Interest Company organises leisure outings for disabled and able-bodied passengers of all ages. Coaches or minibuses are hired to accommodate people's access requirements and the number of people going on a particular trip.

Pick-up points are arranged after the organiser has established where passengers live, with central collection locations chosen where possible. The first pick-up will take place at the advertised departure time, while the return time is when the vehicle will leave the destination.

The programme begins with a trip to Slimbridge on Friday, 17 July, followed by visits to Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre, Hampton Court Palace and either Tyntesfield or Noah's Ark Zoo Farm. Later outings include Cardiff, Bicester Village, Sidmouth, Weymouth, Cadbury World and West Midlands Safari Park.

Friday, 17 July — Slimbridge: 8 am to 3 pm. Tickets cost £41, £38 concessionary and £32 for passengers aged 17 or under. Entrance is included.
Tuesday, 21 July — Bullring shopping centre, Birmingham: 8 am to 4 pm. Tickets cost £33, £31 concessionary and £29 for passengers aged 17 or under.
Wednesday, 29 July — Hampton Court Palace, Surrey: 8 am to 4 pm. Transport costs £33, £31 concessionary and £29 for passengers aged 17 or under. Admission is not included.
Friday, 7 August — Tyntesfield or Noah's Ark Zoo Farm, Wraxall: 8 am to 3 pm. Transport costs £22, £20 concessionary and £18 for passengers aged 17 or under. Admission is not included.
Friday, 14 August — St David's shopping centre, Cardiff: 8 am to 3 pm. Tickets cost £27, £25 concessionary and £23 for passengers aged 17 or under.
Tuesday, 25 August — Bicester Village: 8 am to 4 pm. Tickets cost £31, £29 concessionary and £27 for passengers aged 17 or under.
Friday, 28 August — Sidmouth: 8 am to 4 pm. Tickets cost £31, £29 concessionary and £27 for passengers aged 17 or under.
Wednesday, 9 September — Weymouth: 8 am to 4 pm. Tickets cost £31, £29 concessionary and £27 for passengers aged 17 or under.
Thursday, 17 September — Cadbury World, Birmingham: 8 am to 4 pm. Tickets cost £55, £54 concessionary and £51 for passengers aged 17 or under. Standard admission and transport are included.
Friday, 25 September — West Midlands Safari Park: 8 am to 4 pm. Tickets cost £72, £70 concessionary and £68 for passengers aged 17 or under. Entrance is included.

Concessionary fares are available to senior citizens and disabled passengers. The outings are open to everyone, regardless of age or disability, although anyone who needs a carer or wheelchair pusher must bring their own.

Where admission is included and an attraction allows an essential carer or support worker to enter free, Lin's Leisure Trips will adjust the fare so the carer pays only for transport. The number of wheelchair spaces will vary depending on the coach or minibus hired, so passengers should discuss their access requirements before reserving a seat.

Passengers from Shepton Mallet should contact the organiser to discuss the most suitable central collection point. People can also suggest destinations that do not appear in the current programme.

Passengers who cancel after a coach or minibus has been booked will receive their money back only if their seat is resold or Lin's Leisure Trips cancels the outing. A trip may also be cancelled if the vehicle is less than half full.
