Shepton repair café offers free fixes and seeks new volunteers
By Laura Linham 7th Oct 2026
Shepton Mallet residents are being encouraged to bring their broken belongings to a free repair café this Saturday, with volunteers also appealing for more people to join the team.
The café returns to the Art Bank on 10 October, from 11am to 1pm, offering help with items ranging from electrical appliances and audio equipment to clothes, bags and jewellery.
Repairers will also tackle mechanical and wooden objects, aiming to give belongings a longer life and keep repairable items out of landfill. They can assess whether something can be fixed, needs replacement parts or requires further advice.
The team can look at electronic equipment too, although organisers say their help may sometimes be limited to advice.
Repairs are free, with donations welcome towards running costs. The group is also keen to hear from new volunteer repairers and people willing to help run the sessions.
Anyone interested in volunteering can leave a message on the café's Facebook page or come along on Saturday to meet the team.
Further details are available in the Shepton Mallet Repair Café event listing.
