By Laura Linham 6th Oct 2026
Shepton Mallet Prison is inviting visitors to explore its history after dark on Halloween tours featuring ghost stories, actors and sudden scares.
The 90-minute guided tours run every Thursday in October, with additional dates on Tuesday, 27 October, Wednesday, 28 October, Friday, 30 October, and Sunday, 1 November.
Tickets cost £30, with the first tour starting at 6.30pm.
Visitors will be taken through areas including the Gate Lodge, Hard Labour Yard and Execution Room, hearing stories from the prison's past alongside accounts of reported paranormal encounters.
The attraction recommends the tours for ages 12 and over, with children accompanied by an adult.
Organisers advise guests to dress warmly, wear sensible footwear and bring a small torch.
The experience includes fog effects, strobe lighting, loud sounds and jump scares. Visitors with concerns about whether it is suitable for them can contact the prison before booking.
Tickets and further details are available through the Shepton Mallet Prison website.
